I wonder if I know anything

tomtom monkey I am always amazed at the people who are Blogging about blogging. I know there are millions of blogs, but if you took away the people who spend most of their time blogging about writing a blog (How many songs would you like to hear about writing songs) or the people who write or copy (or steal) other people’s blog into their blog (how many songs do you want to hear about how a singer likes other bands) you wouldn’t have many blogs.

I kind of started this when I was in Grad school about four years ago. The focus then was ‘a year in grad school.’ I had so much more time then. I would write about how the grounds crew would remove the grass from where the Buffalo was/is, only to replace the grass a month later. I never found out why. It was a little like a comedy routine, because nobody would say much, but when I would say: “Do you know why they removed all that grass in front of the Performing Arts Center.”

I tried to get the Buffalo paper to publish it, but I got no response from them. As in I sent the posts to three or four people and none of them wrote back —- not even to say, ‘no thanks.’

dancing cjkThe one thing I didn’t write about at the time was the romance I had going on. Well it was only the romance, there was no ‘going on.’ The woman who would eventually be the romance was at the end of her marriage and I would meet her for lunch.

It was as platonic as you could ask for, but because it was always new, it was romantic. I think of this because of the blog thing for one, but the Performing Arts Building was one of the places we met; the football stadium (both the old and new) was others. My favorite — I think — was at the little island on a pond by the student housing. I liked it because it was this little island, with a bridge to it, with a couple benches for sitting and contemplating. That is to say, we used the spot for what it was manufactured for…and I liked that because I don’t think many people did that.

I did that some 25 years before with the woman I was dating at the time. Which is kind of weird to think about, since I never thought that first devil 43 bushstint at college I did much ‘college’ stuff. That is I didn’t go to a lot of college bars — I didn’t spend much time on campus, mostly I worked. But for that picnicking with the girlfriend. That was my first B.A. The second B.A. was accomplished in a year and I did a lot of college thing then — internships, working for the campus paper.

I was so much older then that dating didn’t seem to be an option…at least not with co-eds. Ironically dating was much more of an opportunity when I was in my late 40’s and grad school.

I wonder how many of my classmates from SUNY at Buffalo are on the way to getting tenure — time flies.

Speaking of school, I applied for my certification — this one is called ‘professional’ as opposed to the ‘initial’ one I have now. One hundred smackaroos to apply. I guess I am being a little presumptuous, since one of the criteria is to have worked three years. That milestone doesn’t happen until February 2008. I don’t think it matter, since I applied on line and when I put in my work dates, it didn’t reject me…I think the only rejecting is if my credit card is over it’s limit.

Went for a short walk, but i am still watching the computer screen too much.

I did a cafepress story for my devil43 graphic:
