a rainy day that ends summer

Autumn is definately here, there are colorful leaves on the ground. Much of that because it was raining and really windy today. And then it is suppose to get down to 31 tonight.

I’ve kind of decided not to go to the home town this weekend.

I found another place to stay on Friday. Two bonus’ over the other place. The first one is it is $65 cheaper. More importantly it is a different landlord. The first place was the guy who was suppose to take care of my place the last two years. And didn’t. As soon as I got the lease, I knew I didn’t want to stay there. For one they have wording in there that if they had to sue me they could charge me 21% interest on top of the lawyer fees. The last thing I noticed was a “one-time” administrative fee of $50. No where in the contract was there any wording about what they would do for me, like plow the drive-way. I guess that is okay, considering he was suppose to plow the drive the last two years and did a poor job.

I think in a different situation I would feel bad about backing out, but since they were so business like — I don’t care. I should copy the contract before I give it back.

tigers.jpg The Tigers are still playing well, but Cleveland is playing better. The Big Cats have a lead going into the ninth and the yankers lost today. With Cleveland playing like they are, it will be hard to over take them. It might be hard to win when we play them next week. I don’t know how much the Tigers can win. They have a chance, but there is a big hole to dig out of. What happend is the Detroiters made it so Cleveland and NY are in the driver’s seat.

So it is the ninth inning; The Big Cats have a 4-3 lead; and sTODDgy Jones goes for his 299th save and 36th of the year. The good thing about this situations is he has been doing well and he is pitching in a good rotation. That is not sitting out for 4-5 games, but resting every couple games. Now one out — go sTODDgy. Fly out — two. Okay—- 17 pitches and he has save 299.

  • I am grateful for the Tigers playing well
  • I am grateful for today’s yanker lost
  • I am grateful for any yanker loss

gosh is the day over

gosh is the day over

well — the day is over, I need to rush through and get to sleep.

tigers.jpg The Tigers win, stop the losing street. Not much help from Justin Verlander who gave up four runs, but Zach Miner got the win in relief and Todd Jones got his 29th save and is eight away from 300.

I didn’t see the game, some friends and I drove out to have dinner at a camp ground — were the second group is spending the week. Then I went and checked on the cat of the second group.

It was a nice rainy day, stopping just before we went to the dinner engagement.

I had to do some shopping — made ice cream pie (jello and ice cream). enough…

between the books

between the books

tigers.jpgI have found myself at the Toledo Library again…. I would like to have my own computer to write this on, and post, but posting would be a bonus. I am not so comfortable writing on an unknown computer, but it is hardly impossible. But it is the little things like the auto-formating that always makes an ‘I’ a capital.

tigers.jpg The Mighty Tigers have lost two games to Kansas since I have been here, the second being the one I was at yesterday…. Nate Robertson pitched well, but lost and Curtis Granderson made an amazing play in center field. (I didn’t bring all the link to players, so I will not be linking thoses.)  Well they are still in first place.

Hoping to see a Mudhens game tomorrow — on Thursday they will be playing againt Curt Schilling. So I have the choice of watching Boston against Cleveland — on the way home — or staying and watching Schilling. I will have to check with my friends.

Weather is nice here, though it rain most the way here. It’s funny—- I always thought the weather that the hometown got was just a day after what Toledo go. That would be wrong. Hometown — and all the Adirondacks — has had a lot of rain, but the Toledo area has been experiencing a drought.

I am always amazed at how popular the library computers are. I guess I expect kids to be here, doing what they can’t do at home or don’t want to do at home (looking at personals). I guess I never expect to see so many adults to be here. Perhaps doing what they don’t want to do at home (looking at personals).

I get the sense that there are a lot of teenagers sitting across from each other doing similar things on the itner net. Like either playing games (where they might be playing with each other) and of course personals.

I need to make an effort to exercise today. After the long trip here my body is often stiff, as if I did a really big work out. I have my bike, though I am always afraid to ride on the roads here and I can do pushups anywhere.

I gues the hardest thing about the library to me is the air conditioning that is right over the computers. It is a bit cool, but just the draft on me is annoying. Another reason it would be nice to have my own computer to type on, then I couldjust come here and up load. That would help with the time issue, I’m down to 34 minutes of typing left.

It’s amazing how little I have to say. I am tired and will likely head back for a nap on the living room floor so I can breathe in a ton of cat hair. I have no play to go back, but I will likely leave before Friday.

One of the things that I end up doing when I am a — this library and in Toledo in general — is buy some books. Even if they are books I plan to read, in the back of my mind I am thinking of putting them in my library. I like knowing who the kids are and the fact that I can buy books that I know certain students will read. I should call my school see if any of my book orders have come in.

Now that I am down to 15 minutes I guess I better move on.

Gratitude (3)

  • I am grateful for a sunny day at the ball park
  • I am grateful for someone else to drive to the ball park
  • I am grateful for a nice library to check e-mail at.

waiting for the bullpen

waiting for the bullpen

Looks like a summer day of rain. I woke up (late) to rain. and it has been pretty steady for a couple hours now. And last night there was a good thunderstorm going on….although I am not sure if it rained as much (volume-wise).

tigers.jpgListening to the Tigers’ afternoon game. I have come to the conclusion that the first four innings are basically waiting for the bullpen, to see what will happen. Jeremy Bonderman has been pitching a good game (only two hits through five innings). The starting pitchers get in trouble (runners in scoring position), but get out of it…with the relief pitching I am not so confident that will happen.

What is frustrating is anyone from the bullpen can be lights out or they can just stink up the place. I usually do the squats, crunches and pushups with the relief pitchers — it burns the energy.

You just don’t know, though my man sTODDgy has been excellent in the last 10 games, but Todd Jones is only the ninth inning and only if it is a save situation. If the Tigers are losing or if they are winning by four runs or whatever the save rules are — he doesn’t come in. There have been those funny situations where the Tigers had a six run lead, but after the other relievers allowed four runs, sTODDgy comes in for the save.

I am antsy, it would be nice to find some romance while I am on this road trip. Romance is hard for the hermits of the world, especially in my chase when the mailman is a man. I guess when you are happy not being around people, then you are likely to not be around people.

tigers.jpg Geez, another Tiger might be injured.. ha, that was short lived, Placido Planco hurts his knee on the double play, then in the top of the next inning he gets a double, the second run of a x run inning….and put the Tigers in the lead.….

I like to see that, since it is getting late in the game for Bonderman, now if he comes out he will get the win. Somehow mlb gameday has locked up — but the audio is there. I will be missing the mlb audio…in the next week

With all this rain, it is a good thing I mowed the grass yesterday. I was thinking I would do it today, but there is no chance that would have happened. I can’t imagine what it would look like — in a week — if I didn’t mow it. I also packed some into the truck last night, which saves doing it in the rain today. I was going to put some things in the back, but it was smart to put it up in the club cab

oooouch, Bonderman will be out, with a 3-3 game. It is time to start doing push ups. They usually do pretty well of late, it just they make it a —- little interesting. And the rain continues to come down.

I want to finish up my laundry and do some other chores around here. I want to use up the hot water and then turn off the heater. Make sure all my mouse catchers are ready is a big thing too.

Well burned a disk and some exercises and the Tigers in the 10th have taken a 4-3 lead…time for sTODDgy.

I made a little mistake in my garbage calculations. I didn’t think about taking the garbage to the school town would involve being there when the dump is open.

Oooo baby now it gets exciting — a tiger error/missplay, but there are two outs and a runner at first. It is now one swing win situation. sTODDgy does it. He shut out the Twins in all three games of the series, has made it 11 consecutive saves and his 26th! Woo woo, he is now 11 away from 300 saves.

Tigs are 2.5 games in first and three if the Indains lose.

Gratitude (3)

  • I am grateful that I have a washer and dryer
  • I am grateful that even with bigger bills, my salary gives me more disposable cash
  • I am grateful that I mowed the grass yesterday.
