June and the moon

June and the moon

Just to get going, I think I will write a short post.

I have been trying to think of something in the form of a press release for the High School play — that I offered to write for next fall. I sort of have an idea, but I am not sure it would work. The group of characters would be high school kids who used to meet with the Guidance counselor in a ‘therapy’ group.

When I went for a bike ride, I noticed my truck door was open, and who knows how long it had been opened….but my batter is totally dead. No one was around to get a jump, but fortunately I am in walking distance

tigers.jpg The Tigers won today and won the series against Seattle. It is June and the Big Cats are not in last place and only six game sout of first. The worse thing is they are way too far out of the race for the wild card, so the Detroiters have to set their sights on winning first place.

Gratitude (3)

  • I am grateful for being in walking distance of work
  • I am grateful for school is just about over
  • I am grateful for I am feeling good about writing the High School Play.

The fools holiday

The fools holiday

The Tigers are off today and Kenny Rogers is pitching tomorrow, so life is easy.

I’m going to listen to the Dodgers for a little bit. I caught Vin Scully, so ally is easy and good.

None of the kids felt the need to do an April’s fools joke, which is good, since they are usually pretty lame.

Typical stupid meeting day. The main topic of the meeting was to make sure kids have a pass when the leave your room. Not more than 15 minutes after this meeting, two teachers sent students down to the library WITHOUT a pass. What is up with that.… It is beyond me…I don’t even know where to go with it. I can’t really ask the teacher what they are thinking because I can’t hardly ask with out too much sarcasm dripping off it.

boy do I have nothing to say… The biggest excitement is a guy who I play volleyball with might be interested in writing the music for a musical I have been thinking about for about eight years: “No PDA in the G-Y-M

Gratitude (3)

  • I am grateful that it looks like most of my plants have made it through winter
  • I am grateful for warmer days
  • I am grateful for the irony of stupidity

where am I going

where am I going

Just bought more software. I like to buy things that are relatively cheap and good like Journler. Not sure how I will use it, but I suspect if I play with it enough it will be my main software. Maybe not, but if it is — it will be the cheapest software I have purchased.

Here is the wonderful irony of Journler, I went to the web page to look for a manual and the guy who created the program was talking about the future of his software. First of all he is increasing the price and changing it from a donation to shareware. Mostly he was commenting how the software has grown in popularity (downloads), but not in payments for the software.

The irony is it is exactly how I feel about play writing. The more I do it, the more successful or popular it is, the less I make.

The Packers lost today. The Patriots did not. I had hoped for a Patriot/Packer Superbowl. Two times I would be happy if either one won. I guess now I will root for the Pats. Another irony is the fact that I am not having a winter carnival play because one of my actors said he wouldn’t be able to be in it because he had a chance to go see the Patriots in the superbowl. I was thinking it was a dream season and he would go see them. Now I hear he is not.

raygunI am listing to a band called Japan, I can’t remember who they sound like.… maybe Tom Robinson or Television. Very 1980’s. In spite of raygun, it was an interesting time for music.

I really need something in my life, so I don’t spend the weekends watching the internet.

Just realized it is 1 a.m. Time to think about sleep.

Gratitude (3)

  • I am grateful for exciting playoff football
  • I am grateful for the dream of a second chance
  • I am grateful for knowing when not knowing doesn’t mean good things won’t happen

what to say

what to say

Just discovered the “genius of the shower curtain.” I couldn’t understand why there was a shower curtain here that was four inches too long. It seemed like it would be better to be cut. But today I noticed you could adjust the rod by unscrewing it then screwing out when you got it to where it should be.

Slept in and when I finally rolled out I had a sore back. Still sore. I thought it would loosen up, but it didn’t. I did some exercises later on, but even that didn’t ease things out.

The back shouldn’t have stopped my day, but it did. I say listening to the radio (via the internet) to a couple football games, some hockey and some baseball. I found that through iTunes I can listen to the Tiger’s radio station. Not sure if that is available for games.

My inability to be enthused about writing is troublesome. It could be a recharge. Could be laziness. Could be burnout. Or could be I am washed up. While it is troublesome — it is relaxing not to have much to do. Plus it is easy to see that after writing an average of two plays a year for the last 10 years

On top of this, I haven’t written a poem in a couple months. That is the hardest thing to understand.

raygunI figured out why my foot has been hurting. I thought it was that I had kicked the wall when I was in Toledo, but Thursday I figured out it was because when I was writing at this computer I would wedge my foot under my chair and leave it in one spot for too long. Knowing that I have made an effort not to do that today — habits are hard to break

Gratitude (3)

  • I am grateful for discovering things
  • I am grateful for extra time to write a fable
  • I am grateful for rice in a wrap
