Just to whine

I’m all itchy from passing out water at the bike race yesterday. I guess I am okay with being alone and in the middle of the woods, but it was interesting to: a) drive back and see no one had picked up the empty waterbottles AND b) a bunch of students from my school just hanging out at the finish line. Maybe they weren’t volunteering, but if they were, they didn’t look like they were doing much

Now that I think about it I am a little more annoyed. Mostly because I had to do a lot of running around to pass out the water (and to pick up my area), which really aggravated my plantar fasciitis.

crushThe Tigers continue to win, six straight and eight of 10. Amazingly they are only five games from being .500 and six games from first place.

I made a quick trip home on Friday, did a load of laundry — finished up my laundry at the dog sitting — and mowed the grass.

Seven and a half days of school left and after Tuesday only five days with the k-5. I was amused by all the students who I would classified as — bad students — who came up to the retiring teacher and making comments on how she will miss them. She did well to keep a straight face.

Having credit card trouble. I think the bill got lost because of forwarding mail. I need to clean that up with the post office tomorrow. The card company kind of annoyed me. They have this new rule that you have to have a password. I couldn’t remember it. The woman told me until I fixed that I couldn’t use my card. I couldn’t get her to get it through her head that I was calling because I couldn’t use my card ALREADY. That was the reason I was calling! Ironically I am in the process of getting a credit card from my credit union that has an interest rate at about 40% of the current one.

out on the lake

out on the lake

I received my school info today and it kind of indicates that things are not so good. One thing is they didn’t included a schedule, so I don’t know when I am teaching k-5, not that it mattes a lot, but I hope they have a schedule. I head the guidance counselor who is in charge of that took another job. Maybe the counselor didn’t quit, but I think she has.

A second thing that was bad is they listed people doing things that I don’t think they are doing — like said mentioned guidance counselor was a class advisor, and her class graduated.

Then — it is only two weeks before school starts — they don’t know the name of some teachers. I take that back, they know, but on some of the forms the band teacher is just listed as ‘band teacher’ and not his name — which is on other forms.

My body is tired. I kayaked for about an hour and then I rode my bike too. On the lake, I saw a loon and when I was padding by alittle island I saw a critter that I have no clue what it was — I think it was an otter, but it could have been a martin (I don’t know). As I was paddling back I was asking myself why I didn’t do this more often this summer.

My upper body is sore from the kayaking and my legs are tired because — though I didn’t ride long– I rode up some high hills (for me).

tigers.jpg The Tigers won and moved within half a game of first place by beating the Cleveland Indians. San Diego won, so they are still four games out of the wild card chase. So realistically at this point they need to think about AL Central first place

Jair Jurrjens up from Double A pitched a great game and got his first major league win. Todd Jones got his 32nd save of the year, and the 295th of the year. So there is still a chance sTODDgy will get his 300th next Monday.

One of the big moments was when Joel Zumaya came into the game after being off for more than 90 games. He had surgery on his finger. Not only was he smoking the ball, he only worked a third of an inning so he is available tomorrow. That is exciting.

On top of all that the Yankers lose to Anahiem 18-9.

Gratitude (3)

  • I am grateful for a beautiful lake right next to me — 500 yards away
  • I am grateful to be able to sit on an island and soak my feet.
  • I am grateful for a beautiful days with hardly any boats on the lake

I am rooting for losers

I am rooting for losers

tigers.jpg The Tigers suck. not much more you can say about that, except that Cleveland Indians is in first place, but are not gaining ground because they keep losing. But the Tigers are getting so they have to win the AL Central because they are losing the AL Wild Card Race.

tigers.jpgWent for a bike ride around town and visited Lizzie Oliver’s grave. I put another angel there. I should research her and see if there is anyway to find out about her and her fate.

banana danceAfter that I rode down the railroad tracks then onto the river walk in town. At the river walk I took some pictures for the gather section I have . I am not sure if I had actually looked at it. I have stumbled upon some of it from time to time — like the section by the laundromat. And while walking through town I have stopped at the various bridges. I think I know of five car bridges in town.

I needed to get out after the Tiger Loss.

Did laundry and thought about leaving — I think I am going to dinner in my school town on Wednesday and leaving from there the next day.

it is cold tonight — current temp is: 37 degrees.

Since the night game in MLB was rained out, I am listening to Souther Culture on the Skids — archive.org.

Gratitude (3)

  • I am grateful for my tourist town being slow on Sunday evenings
  • I am grateful for the river walk in my town.
  • I am grateful for to ride my bike around town in my home town.

season of blue asters

season of blue asters

Whaked myself out in the last 24 hours. Processed books until about 2 a.m., read for another 40 minutes and then slept on the library floor for six hours — maybe less. I was surprised, now without the confine of a futon I roamed a lot. tigers.jpgThen I got up and went to the Santanoni trail and rode my bike in. There were kind of a lot of people around, all of them thinking they should be left alone.

I was on a bridge taking pictures and there was this couple drinking coffee on the shore. I could tell they thought I was invading their privacy. Perhaps they are right, I don’t know. Hard to own the wilderness.

There there were two young women having coffee on the deck of the Santanoni, same reaction. It was about 10 a.m., I don’t know what they were thinking. The great camp is a draw, people go there.

One bonus about the trip was during the drive to Newcomb, because the road was lined with wild flowers. I should have stopped and took pictures. It was beautiful.

I have a headache from the lack of sleep and decrease of caffeine — bad combination.

I enjoyed doing the books — though I had to rush through a newsletter column (that I hope gets in). When you order books and you know certain kids will enjoy them, it is rewarding to get the books in your hands.

The bike ride was great, but another thing that a female companion would be nice to have.

tigers.jpg The Tigers, all I can say — insert picture of a toilet. Five game losing street — second place by .5 game and the same in the lead of the wildcard. The Big Cats will have to win the AL Central if they want to go to post season.

Gratitude (3)

  • I am grateful for wild flowers
  • I am grateful for Camp Santanoni
  • I am grateful for that the pictures from there turned out well
