summer o begin

What is it with the post office, do they honestly believe when they are no longer needed, they will be able to come in and collect a pay check. I know I have the most bad post office stories — or up there, but why does it continue.

To begin… my mail was all returned to sender about a month ago. I didn’t know that for a while, but wondered why I wasn’t getting much mail (fortunately because I forward my mail ever 10 months or so I don’t get junk mail {they don’t forward junk mail}). So that means I have to fix that, which means I am calling up people saying, “I need to check on my account.” Which is what I said to the post office adding my address. Okay, ‘account’ probably isn’t the proper term for my mail, but I don’t know what the proper term is but when I give the address, I would think they would grasp what I am talking about

So I give them my address and they respond: “Where do you live?” I expaint that what is important is the address I am forwarding from not where I live, though in two days I will be living at that address. jeez. All of which — I might add — is a problem created from them stopping the forward after I extended. The great irony is that the forward apparently got lost in the mail.

I slept in today, which wasn’t much for me, but a lot compared to what has been. Slept to 7:30 a.m., since the dogs have been getting me up at 5 a.m. it seemed like a lot. But boy was my back sore. I think I have this ongoing back problem related to driving. Usually when I drive more than an hour, it means right before I was doing a lot of moving, like packing from one house to the other.

Beautiful day — got the wet grass mowed, bought some CDs (Beck and the new Weezer), some fly fishing equipment and made my phone calls. I just realized that I am going to hve a long wait for the internet 7/12 and should have called mid June.

Time to go and will finish at the school home.

didn’t finish will start another

sleeping through

sleeping through

Didn’t nap today, so hopefully I wll be sleeping before midnight. I am on another field trip with the middle schoolers. shouldn’t be too bad since we have four+ chaperones for 20 kids. Plus they should be running all around and tired on the way home. Weather is suppose to be good so that is good.

tigers.jpg The Tigers lose to the Cardinals…so the friends who root for them will come out of the coop. They say nothing until their team wins.

Next day

I am so glad we are on the brink of the last day.

Had an easy hard day today. Chaperoned a little field trip. It was one of those good ones where the kids are out of school, so those that go are not ones that have to, so the tend to be much better behaved. But it felt like a long day since it was so sunny.

One of the things that I really like is it reminds me that maybe the kids at my school are jerks. The jokes that I make in my school and get rude response from — got laughs from the other school. It reminds me of a story. I was talking to the math teacher. We were complaining about our kids and she said she was getting tired of the kids turning their head so they would have to acknowledge her when she drove by.

Looks like I am up late — The Tigers had a two+ hour rain d

time for bed, Tigers win woot woot

Just to whine

Just to whine

I’m all itchy from passing out water at the bike race yesterday. I guess I am okay with being alone and in the middle of the woods, but it was interesting to: a) drive back and see no one had picked up the empty waterbottles AND b) a bunch of students from my school just hanging out at the finish line. Maybe they weren’t volunteering, but if they were, they didn’t look like they were doing much

Now that I think about it I am a little more annoyed. Mostly because I had to do a lot of running around to pass out the water (and to pick up my area), which really aggravated my plantar fasciitis.

crushThe Tigers continue to win, six straight and eight of 10. Amazingly they are only five games from being .500 and six games from first place.

I made a quick trip home on Friday, did a load of laundry — finished up my laundry at the dog sitting — and mowed the grass.

Seven and a half days of school left and after Tuesday only five days with the k-5. I was amused by all the students who I would classified as — bad students — who came up to the retiring teacher and making comments on how she will miss them. She did well to keep a straight face.

Having credit card trouble. I think the bill got lost because of forwarding mail. I need to clean that up with the post office tomorrow. The card company kind of annoyed me. They have this new rule that you have to have a password. I couldn’t remember it. The woman told me until I fixed that I couldn’t use my card. I couldn’t get her to get it through her head that I was calling because I couldn’t use my card ALREADY. That was the reason I was calling! Ironically I am in the process of getting a credit card from my credit union that has an interest rate at about 40% of the current one.

crushing

crushing

i just sat down and I miss the internet. Maybe beer and pizza will help me to forget. Or maybe not.

I thought my drive would wake me up.

It’s the second time I’ve been in the home town in about a month and the second time I ran into the young woman from my plays. She was just a kid when we started, now I think she is in her 20’s maybe not, but her friend was buying beer. Said woman has a reputation of drinking too much, so I am not sure if I should be judgmental or not

after all she might be like me, drank one beer opened the second and fell asleep. She probably didn’t eat too much pizza though.

Up early and thinking too much. I decided that the kayak I loaded in my truck was not needed, so I took it out and in the process broke a porch window… Yet another summer project. I took the pizza box and kind of blocked the window…I just can’t get get that white trash look down.

tigers.jpg The Tigers won the fourth in a row last night, pretty cool. It would be a turning point if they could win again tonight.

My back is kind of sore, from sleeping on the floor and hauling stuff around — and the long drive probably didn’t help. The fact I am running around handing out water will likely be difficult as well.

This is the first time I have handing out water when the racers are going towards my school town. I think it has worked out that this is the third time I have done it — first even year.

tigers.jpgI changed the insoles in my shoes because my plantar fisticus is really flaring up. I never think that I could wear those things out, but when I compared them to another set they looked kind of beat.

During my year end review two weeks ago, my principal said I was doing ‘outstanding.’ If only I felt that way. I think I feel that way because of the inability to motivate my high school staff and the main teacher I work with in the middle school is retiring.

We had a rally for the retiring teacher and so many things were clear. First ’star’ did not get up and say anything the other English teacher who has worked with the retiring teacher and she wouldn’t say anything. The social studies teacher got up and mumbled about how she was someone he looked to as an example of how to teach. I took an unhumble delight in the fact that I was the only one who was asked for a copy of what I said. This might have been because I was the only one that had a piece of paper in my hand when I spoke.

During my yearend review, the principal said the only I could do was maybe present at conferences. I so wanted to say: “To be a presenter you really need to have a staff that will work with you so you can have good practices to use as a presentation.

A fellow SLMS who went to U@B presented at the last conference — Poetry Slams. I am sure he does an okay job, but he has several staff members who help him out. That actually do encouraging things — like bonus points. I asked the high school staff it would be possible to give out bonus points for returning books (at the end of the quarters). The response was as if I asked for a bare midriff day (for either the students or teachers — some of the teachers have a lot of midriff to bare).

  • I am grateful for broccoli prizza
  • I am grateful for a multi-game win streak by the Tigers
  • I am grateful for the ability to write a good speech
