I am listening to the Pistons play and in the course of about 40 minutes I have heard a rodeo commercial four times. I am not thinking that basketball fans and rodeo fans are the same demographics, but then maybe the baskeball fans will go to a rodeo on a lark. I wonder how many people know what a ‘longhorn rodeo’ is, I’m not sure I do.
Hmmm McCain won SC. This might be the first election that I don’t care who wins. In the past few years it was a bit of anyone but Bush, but I wasn’t so enthused about the alternatives. I think I believed the attack republicans would go after McCain
The reason I thought this was the 2004 primary when devil43 did that. It is amazing that after the primary candidates can support each other in a run for the presidency, let alone be a running mate. Not just the republicans. I don’t that Obama wants to be the VP candidate with Hilary, but after the friction created so far in the primaries, I can’t image it at all.
I suppose this makes up for Mitt Romney’s win in Nevada, for McCain. I say that in making the race even. I think Romney is a bit too much of one of those candidates who will tell you what you want to hear. I guess that is kind of the definition of a politician, but he seems to switch his platform from state to state.
I know I do a lot of surface reading on the internet, but after searching for a while, I finally found out that he Democratic Primary isn’t until next Saturday. In the two or three articles I read they did not mention that. I popped through a couple internet/talk radio stations until one of the news stations mentioned this fact.
To me when the articles report on the republican results in SC, I would think the first thing they would mention is the Democratic Primary is next week.
I have been amazed how good the candidates look through these primaries —- appearance-wise. I can’t even imagine how hard it is to be running for the office of president. I don’t seem many stories about it, but I would be fascinated to read/hear what it is like for the candidates on a day to day
Take Mitt Romney. His hair is immaculate every time I see him. Not just when he is coming out to make a victory speech, but in all the dinners where he meets with the ‘common folks.’
And hanging with the common folks is kind of funny to me. If you live in New Hampshire I am sure you had a chance to shake Bill and Hilary Clinton’s hand. That is to say a former president has to work the stump up close and personal
Listening to hockey now. One of the things I think is interesting is the Redwings seem to have fans where ever they go. A lot of times when I tune into the play by play I am not sure where they are, because there is often cheering when Detroit scores. Maybe it is just the Redwings, but I don’t notice this with many other teams. The yankers and lately Boston Red Sox.
I have been having fun with graphics and animation.
Talked to my FWC last night. She was okay with the Fable that featured her. I thought she might be a little angry with it. I am nto sure if she liked it a lot, but at least she didn’t seem upset by it. I can see/hear she is pretty stressed by the whole deal. As you would expect.
Was suppose to be a snow storm today — but it didn’t materialize. I would have gone and done laundry if I knew it was going to be a nice day — instead I did nothing.

time slips

It’s been every so long since I posted here. Not sure what is up. I guess I am on an every other day clip.
There are some things about my job that I hate…things that are not my job in reality, but I feel designed to do. And they are things that I think others should do — they don’t. Like I went to a class dinner last night, for the class of the 2010. It has a few bright spots, but for the most part they are the worst/laziest class in our school. There might be an elementary class that will supersede them, but the class of 2010 will be long gone at that point. And the thing, it isn’t so much the class, as the event (but you can’t ignore the class).
The whole class was there and 90 percent of them just stood around doing nothing. Okay it was potluck, but they could have roamed the room refilling drinks. Or keeping the second jug of ice tea in the refrigerator and getting it when the first one was empty.
I sat with the library aide, her husband and her daughter. That was painful as well. I should be thankful they were there to sit with, but I would have been content to sit alone. The husband barely responded to my questions, which I asked to involve him. The daughter is kind of nasty, not sure why, but she just is. I know it is a stage, but a stage I keep my distance from.
After about three years of taking crap from students who are mean — our just like to dislike outsiders for no apparent reason — I have decided that it is up to the students to make me like them.
I know the husband is kind of shy, but it comes off as he doesn’t really want to deal with little pips like me. Fortunately the ex-husband of my former aide sat down. He was looking for someone to talk to and would answer my questions and talk to me.
Much of the past two days I have had a headache. It seems like a stress headache, though I don’t know where my stress is coming from.
big ann coulter kick — making fun of her that is…
The reading teacher wants to teach an online course next year and me to do it with her… That means she wants me to have a syllabus on Monday.. but then she didn’t want to discuss details… ugh

hmmm some they like

Went to a board meeting tonight. Typical teacher attack. It was in a civil way, but no one wants to say the obvious…though they hinted to it. We have a weak math program at my school. With a couple assumptions that no one wants to talk about, and a couple facts that people want to talk about even less.
I started this last night and then ended up just heading for bed. It is weird because I thought I had a nap that would contain me.
I didn’t realize it, but at the board meeting the board approved my tenure — effective on my anniversary. Just dawned on me the counselor who started about the same time was not offered tenure. I wonder why. I joke with her that I have five days seniority.
Back to the topic of last night. One of the things I get really frustrated about. People want to complain about things, but they don’t want to accept the facts. The new math teacher is coming into a program where kids have been doing poorly for 10 years. He is also a new teacher and, along with the fact that at my school new teachers are given no respect, I think it is asking a lot for someone who is new to be able to turn the program around. Also, you have to add to the fact that there is a relatively new middle school math teacher. She taught one year at the High School level and the past two years is the Middle School math teacher. AND she had a certification in elementary education. Not to mention this is her first job.
Even if either of those new teachers were good, they are coming into an unsupportive environment. For example: as I was leaving someone said, “congratulations on tenure.” I responded with: “I owe it all to my aide and the Ms. X teacher,” who was standing there. The look on Ms. X was, ‘I think you are right.’ She is the kind of person who would gladly tell me I should be grateful she is around.
I found that amusing, since she has never really offered help, but always offered direction on how she thought I should do things.
I was going to do so much, but I am so good at doing nothing — and nothing of late is animation.
Speaking of animation, this must take up a lot of space on anyone’s computer. Some Cracker on archive.org and “Love Star Girl” on audiobook.

doing less and less

It is great to rest up on the weekends, and this one I get an extra day, but I would be better off working on my weekends since all I do is rest. I made some more animated gifs. but other than that it was just playing around.
Listening to Robert Heinlein “A Stranger in a Strange Land.” Science fiction is interesting in how it is so close to the truth by being so far away. Published in 1961, it is as relevant today as it was then. Spent a good amount of time listening to that, the radio and Camper Van Beethoven — archive.org.
back on the Heinlein story — so fascinating. What is so interesting, like most SciFi that I have read, the characters are running from the overpowering government. I am not sure why that is always a main theme.
“Government: 3/4ths parasitic the rest stupid fumbling.”
Talked on the phone to a friend. Hardly do that much any more.
