You have to wonder just how far the Tigers can sink. They are now 0-7 and still have two more games against the RedSox, who I don’t like much, but no where as much as I despise the yankers. They lost, so things aren’t too bad.
Interesting turn of events today. The union president asked me if I would consider being vice president. I didn’t realize it, but she is at the end of her term or stepping down. Part of the reason why I didn’t know is I haven’t gone to a meeting in three months. I’ve decided that if co-workers do the end-around to make me run the library the way she wants it run, then I don’t really want
So when she comes up to ask me, I actually thought she was going to ask me why I haven’t been going to meetings, instead she is asking me to lead the club I don’t want to be a member of.
I kind of stunned her when I said: “I would consider it, but I am hoping not to be here next year.” She didn’t know how to respond to that….and maybe that is the problem at my school. First she doesn’t ask me why I am not going to meetings — either because she hasn’t noticed or she has and asking me to be the VP is a way to get me to come to the meetings. Then when I tell her I want to leave, there isn’t a question of why…but I would just say August 9.
Not sure if I wrote about August 9, but it is a good storyl
I wanted to do something about the turn over of 14-20 percent every year. Or to help the new people along so maybe they wouldn’t want to live and/or be more effective when they go through the first year. So I thought it would be good to have all the new people come together in mid-summer to: get their computer log-in info; meet their mentors; be introduced to the union; get some info about the town from the chamber of commerce; and anything else that might help/welcome a new person. I ran it by the principal in early June and he thought it was a good idea at 10 a.m. I ran it by the head custodian at 10:08 a.m. and he didn’t know when the library — the meeting place would be cleaned. Yes, he was saying that he could not figure out how to not wax the library two months from the day I gave him the heads up. AND (as in wilco tango foxtrot AND) I told him we could meet in a different room if the library needed to be cleaned.
I did mention that in the worse case scenario they could not wax the library.
At 1:15 p.m. the principal called me into his office and said that maybe it wouldn’t be a good idea to bring all the new people in. One reason was he thought any new person would want to come in before… I talked a little more and finally the principal said: “well maybe the library might be cleaned on that day.”
Everyone knows we have too much turn over. Everyone knows it is hard to be new, that the kids go after a new employee. Everyone knows how hard it is to fit into a small town. Everyone accepts that they would rather be part of the problem than the solution.
What is also so interesting to me is the fact that the Current president is asking me to fill in for the person who is going to be president. I think it would be better if the president to be would ask me. That is the person the new VP will have to work with.
Went to a board meeting tonight — big whoop
