The fools holiday

The Tigers are off today and Kenny Rogers is pitching tomorrow, so life is easy.

I’m going to listen to the Dodgers for a little bit. I caught Vin Scully, so ally is easy and good.

None of the kids felt the need to do an April’s fools joke, which is good, since they are usually pretty lame.

Typical stupid meeting day. The main topic of the meeting was to make sure kids have a pass when the leave your room. Not more than 15 minutes after this meeting, two teachers sent students down to the library WITHOUT a pass. What is up with that.… It is beyond me…I don’t even know where to go with it. I can’t really ask the teacher what they are thinking because I can’t hardly ask with out too much sarcasm dripping off it.

boy do I have nothing to say… The biggest excitement is a guy who I play volleyball with might be interested in writing the music for a musical I have been thinking about for about eight years: “No PDA in the G-Y-M

Gratitude (3)

  • I am grateful that it looks like most of my plants have made it through winter
  • I am grateful for warmer days
  • I am grateful for the irony of stupidity

out like a lamb

tigers.jpg Not bad ending day to March, it was up in the 30’s today and a lot of melting. but The Tigers lost when they should have won

Volleyball was good today. I was afraid I would be way sore afterwards, but no..feel good, though a little tired.

The library aide was kind of riled up today. I think she has had it with the new teachers…and for good reason, three of the six teachers we have added on in the last two years are mediocre at best. The one is so bad I think letting him go and putting a long term sub as a study hall teacher in his place would be better than the day to day activities in his class. As it is, in a couple weeks I will be teaching two of his classes (teaching one now). Today, as an example, I thought he had his study hall in the library (it was actually the last class of the day) and I asked him about it. He said no it was his class. When I asked him why three of them were out in the library and not in the computer lab with him, he seemed surprised —as in HE DIDN’T KNOW HIS CLASS WAS MISSING. Ugh

I think she is right, but part of it is the lack of support in my school. You have to be an experience teacher to deal with our kids. Of the teachers who succeeded, and few have, they were teachers who taught before coming to my school. And those had no support, they just backed into their own classroom and struggled. Kids walking around talking about how the new teachers suck and the experience teachers take that as a compliment…and to be honest they are not great teachers, but they are survivors.

Gratitude (3)

  • I am grateful for maybe finding someone to write the music for my musical
  • I am grateful for the feed zone of deers outback
  • I am grateful for working with someone who sees crappy teachers in my school
