Is summer here?

tigers.jpgBeautiful day in the Adirondacks. Cold at night, but warm (sunny) during the day.

After the Tiger game I think I will go for a walk and check my phone machine… looks like Yahoo is acting up. Yahoo.com is okay, but my.yahoo.com is not. It’s just throwing up a white page, nothing on it. It frustrates my obsessive habit of constantly checking my e-mail accounts. I can go to mail.yahoo.com, but not from my.yahoo.com.

tigers.jpg The Tigers are cruising in the fourth inning with a 6-0 lead over Minnesota. Chad Durbin isn’t pitching ‘lights out,’ but he is doing just what it takes. Plus the Twins pitcher doesn’t sound to be too effective and the Tiger hitters are. The starter only lasted four innings

Craig Monroe just cranked a 2-run homer to make it 8-0. Tigers are scary against a faltering team like Minnesota.

It was a tough week this week….mostly because of a stupid thing I said. I was asking the softball team who could play on Friday, since it looked like I would have to cancel the game, because of a lack of players. Turns out I would have only had seven players. two are ineligible and three weren’t able to make it (two because they were going camping).

tigers.jpgSo I am going down the list of who can or can not play and one girl says she can’t make it. She won’t tell me why and is being kind of clandestine. She is also one of the kids who said she couldn’t make it to the first practice because she said she had to go buy a ‘jet pack.’ So — without thinking — I ask: “What is it an AA meeting?”

Turns out her dad is a wicked alcoholic and has been through rehab at least once.

I felt horrible. I called the mother and apologized and called the girl aside. For a while I thought it might be where she was at an AA meeting. turns out she was one of the two going camping and didn’t want me to know. At least I think that was the case.

tigers.jpgFairly lame day. Took a name, which was when I was listening to more of the audiobook, which I ended up going b ack and listened to the Beatles early drug years. One thing I learned, that would be something that surprised me (in the fact I didn’t know) that the spelling of the ‘Beatles was not to be different, but to emphasize ‘beat.’

Other than that I watched a woodpecker for a while. The property around here is good for the woodpecker in that there are a lot of dead trees with bugs in them.

rabbit.jpgIn the last week I have seen: turkeys, deer, a grouse, a couple woodpecker, many other different birds and snowshoe rabbit

  • I am grateful for my digital camera

so nice that the weekend is here

so nice that the weekend is here

Up kind of late tonight, partially due to the nice nap I had.

tigers.jpg The Tigers played a very strong game in support of Mike Maroth. Maroth didn’t have a good start, but he held in there. Cleveland is trailing Oakland, but either way, the Tigers will be in first place.

Gratitude (3)

- tigers.jpgI am grateful for a weekend that looks to be nice

- tigers.jpgI am grateful for a day to kayak (I hope)

- tigers.jpgI am grateful for a first place team

Had play practice and it went fairly well. It is interesting how uneven the actors are. I need to find a way to get all the players together.

The most difficult part of directing this play is the fact that the kids in the play have very little experience in theatre. I think the small of things that I take for granted, they don’t get.

And some of it is just the nature of the kid that exist in my school town. It seems like nothing to them to not go to practice. Since some of the girls are both in the play and on the softball team, they often will skip both practices.

Well the weekend is here just in time.
