So I filled in for the guidance teacher for her weekly rewards program — Fishing For privilege. There are paper fish in a paper pond. The prizes on the back of the fish range from help the library to help the gym teacher. The number one prize is help the gym teacher. I am at the top, but there are a few others that just not appreciated — say the pledge of allegiance being one. I know some of the prizes don’t add up, but I am annoyed to do this assistance because of how pissy the kids ask if they don’t get “help with guy.”
There is a bit of a feeling with our kids of not just ‘give me a prize,’ but ‘give me the great prize.’ When I see that I often want to remove library from the fishing hole.
So was kidding around with the kids acting like there were amazingly great prizes.
“Brandi wins a Cadillac
“What’s a Cadillac.”
Took a little nap, to get ready for chaperoning for a dance.
I may or may not be done with my class. I am a little annoyed by it. I think the guy in charge is about second worse teacher I have ever had. I want to complain about how bad he is.. He hasn’t really answered a single question I have e-mailed him.
Tigs lost Kenny Rogers. He had a blood clot and it looks like he is out for at least a couple months.

Chaperoning was fun, though I have to say the work of moving sound equipment around was a bit tiring. It was fun to see the younger kids (sixth graders) having fun. I am always impressed of the general laziness of people. the kids — they paid $4, I can see why they would not be expected to clean up. But the chaperones were being paid, and most of them made a hasty exit. The ones who will claim a payment — it is just annoying. I know they will say — “had to take my kid home,” or other things. But if you are there for some fun reason or to watch your kid, then either don’t take the pay or model to your kid how to clean up afterwards.
I came up with a great idea — a blog that is called “A year in the life of a school.” We take a picture every day of some event that is going on. It could be the pledge or it could be kids in the library or it could be tonights dance or the sock hop they had earlier today. I did a photo page of the dance, we could have 50 pictures a week if we tried, but we would have to try.
I could ramble on, but I am tired and it is past 1 a.m.

here is a funny story
We are having batting practice. I am pithcing. My firstbasement throws me the ball, but because it comes from the shade into the sun I can’t see it and it whacks me in the head, knocks my classes crooked. It smarts a little, but worse I can’t see out of my left eye.
Being macho and all, I continue to practice, hoping the vision will come back to my left eye. After about 10 minutes… A girl walks the ball up to me and says. “You are bleeding. O and your glasses are broke.” I take them off and realize the reason I can’t see out of my left eye is because the lens got knocked out..
I was happy that the number one sign of a concussion/or stroke (impaired vision) was just stupidity on my part.
Of course I was not happy to look kind of stupid. There is one kid on the team that I just think is great, she thought it would be funny to call me ’skipper’ well until I started calling her ‘Gilligan.’ So when she noticed I had been going on with the lens out of my glasses, it was hilarious to her. The really dopey thing about the whole deal is I wore my new Tiger hat today, but forgot to wear it outside — where it was sunny.
Tigers won and lost today. They beat Houston 3-1, but they had to put Kenny Rogers on the disable list with a sore arm. More details to come and I hope it is just a fluke kind of thing…we need him!
I’m ending the night with a G&T and listening to Vin Scully broadcast the Dodgers game. Where the ball hit my head is a little sore.
did kind of a stupid thing — I created some folders in the photobucket account, which changed the directory for all the pictures. But I guess after a couple weeks, who cares about the pictures
off to slumber

surprisingly not bad

I was so tired yesterday/last night.
Around 1 p.m. there was the ninth grade English class in the computer lab. I was helping a sub run a mpeg file and there there a couple boys in the front nodding off. AND THAT was the only thing that kept me from nodding off myself. Though I thought if I fell asleep they wouldn’t notice.
The Tigers and Nate Robertson had a good day yesterday, but ended ended in a 3-3 tie. Although Roberson did allow all three runs. Sheffield had a 3-run homer. If we can make it to the post season and play like we are playing now, there might be another Tigers World Championship in my lifetime.
One of the best things about the games of late is it looks like we can out-hit anyone. With the potential of greatness from the tiger pitchers there is the possibility that this could be 1987 all over.
Two days after volleyball I am feeling kind of good. My back is stiff, but it was like that before the volleyball. I think the back is a stress related thing. Not big stress, but the tension of coaching practice. I need to get into a little better exercise routine — walking or spinning on my bike
Practice has actually been going quite well, I think the tension/stress is trying to get as much done as possible in 55 minutes. Though I seem to be losing players. Some have not been there because they are sick others are slipping with their grades.
Something just occurred to me that I find amusing. It has to do with personality. My aide is very involved in the PTSO she was commenting on how what seemed to be frustration — though she didn’t say that — in that the school was making the PTSO jump through a certain ring in using the school bus. They couldn’t use the school bus through the school, but they could get the town to borrow the school bus.
I understood her point very well and agreed, though I don’t know the big picture and what liabilities exist in the school not providing the bus over the town. I’ve talked to her a couple times about a mother/daughter game and how we are in the same situation of the school can’t do it, but the PTSO could do it at the town field.
I was more thinking out loud and trying to get feedback from her and her response was: contact the president of the PTSO and let them decide. Basically it was: “go through the proper channels”
I totally understand that, but it is funny ho when you are the one that has to go through channels it is harder to deal with.

O my back

Back from volleyball and I am pretty sore. Mostly because my back was stiff to begin with. It never loosened up. I am so tired — both sleepy and from the volleyball. I will be depending on the ibuprofen again.
it’s nights like this that I wished I had access to a hot tub.
This new graphic makes me think about how I like to make dancing animations, but I haven’t been dancing in like 10 years.
Wrapping up the “Tender Bar” — still think it is about six tapes too long. This tape about somehow connecting 9/11 to the bar he hung out in is kind of a stretch for a non-NYC guy.
It’s seven work days from the Easter break.
I came up with another idea for the play. I had about six or seven sixth grade girls sign up to be in the play and I decided to make them the “Piranha group” I will have them hop around like penguins in a group or a school of fish. This way they can be in the play and sort of be understudies.
I will give them each a line, that they can keep saying. Something like “O he is so boss” “I think it is rocking.”
I have to listen to the kids more so I can capture a couple lines.
The Tigers, behind Bonderman won again today — spring training will end pretty soon, the first game is April 2.
Well time to disappear into slumber.
