The end of summer

It’s 8:08 p.m. and I am beat. I was just talking to my neighbor and it got cold in the 20 minutes I was out there.
On the first day of School (next Wednesday) they are doing this First Day event, something they have done for about six years I guess. This time they are creating a carnival atmosphere. One of the things they wanted to do was have a dunking booth/tub. In June when it is warm you think it will be a good idea. I had thought about volunteering…actually even said I would, but I didn’t get on the list. I think if the high for wed. is 63, I will be glad. The thing is I am good at taunting people, which is what you need for a dunk booth.
I was so close to taking a nap an hour ago, glad I made it though to now…I can now go to bed early, to get up early. Reading newspapers for an hour today increased my tiredness, but gave me a lot of ideas for this weekend.
Tigers played miserably today. Actaully it has been a horrible month for them I am glad tomorrow is September. They were 13-16 in August. That is this year, though it sounds like last year! Actually they had a tad better record last year, but that was with a couple games rained out.
Another lonely night.

what a difference one pitch makes

Made my ride from the the car place.
Less insurance for poor people. Why is that so surprising. When you are poor, everything works against you. This tidbit in the news. There is nothing good about being poor. There are few incentives about being poor. Yet, on the surface, there are many reasons to keep the poor where they are: I don’t want the poor taking my job. Why is MicroSoft so proprietary? few want to drag up the world to their level, because they fear the step up will lower them.
I like this, there is a history museum nearby who’s advertising states: “Start your most exciting Adirondack experience.” Think it is interesting that you go to a 6.2 million acre park and the most excitement will be indoors. I guess I should be on display with my bruised thigh.
Tigers started the day off with a 2-0 loss to the yankers.
Mowed the grass, then went and got my car. Bike ride wasn’t too bad. My thigh held up, but using the clip in bike shoes I was pulling up more than pushing down. My hamstrings were humming. I pushed down a little with my good leg, but for the most part I was not pushing down much at all.
As you may guess, it was a nice day in the Adirondacks. Though I have to say it is very cool.… cold if you were in Toledo.
The second game is a little better, but the hitters aren’t the same guys of a month ago. The yanker’s pitcher has 49 pitches in four innings; little more than 11 pitches per inning. they need to be working the pitchers some more. Like if they would have worked Mariano Rivera — the ace reliever — they might be able to get to him if it is close in the second game.
SWEET, BINGO DINGO —- C-Mo hits a 3-run homer in the ninth! let’s hold ‘em boy. They were one strike away with Cutis Granderson batting, but he worked a walk and set the stage for Craig Monroe
Come on Todd Jones — lets get you another save!!! and he is excellent!
Tomorrow I have to come up with the characters for the play. How soon we forget the novel.… I really need to do that, so I can write this weekend and so I can print out the info during the first day of school on Friday.
I am afraid to say my love life is the Tigers, how ever pathetic that may sound.. Not even archive.org can compete with that. They are now 83-50, with with 29 games left.

dripping like a metronome

The animation is going to get you…pounding at temptation. I think it is fun…and certainly a waste of time.
I’m big into Warren Zevon on archive.org. It’s kind of fun with the artists that have allowed recordings in their careers. You can kind of go back to the album you like and the tour the artist was promoting that album. Of course sometimes the down side is they concert is only 10 songs because they were the opening act. Even now Camper Van Beethoven will open for bands and cut back to a 40 minute show. They have too much material to do that.
Worked some on the play. I have 10 characters and kids names for the parts. I need to come up with some interesting roles. One of the students — Madara — is an amazing actress. I didn’t give her a very good part last year. Actually the play was kind of lame last year. Seeing how I have no idea what to write, it might be lame this year. Maybe I could give her multiple personalities.
I think I will try to interview Madara some for “Mia’s Mom.” She is a big reader. I kind of am jealous of those kids (usually girls) who have read more before they finnish high school, than I have in my life. There is a boy at school who I think of when ordering books, since he will read more than we have and I want to keep new ones coming.
Arrrgh, the Tigers - yankers game is being postponed until tomorrow. It will be a double header tomorrow. No game yesterday and no game tonight — I am going through withdrawals.
Went shopping, was able to move my leg around. I might be able to drop my truck off tomorrow and ride my bike home — which means I have to ride it back. I actually did a good thing, since I think the movement helped out. I’ve been icing it all day. Which helped out and — since the ice bag leaked — kept me in wet pants all day
Tigers play at one, I would like to be home for that! That will be fun.
Once I tried to get a summer job in Buff of low as the library monkey at the baseball games. I wanted to dance around and hang red K’s for strike outs and green H’s for hits. The PR people wouldn’t buy into it. Their mistake.
One of the things I like about the MLB Audio is listening to other games. Like right now I am listening to Vin Scully do the Dodgers/Reds game. Scully is one of — if not the — best.
Just figured out how to ’save as’ my Omni Outliner out line as a html, so I can put the file on my web page, to be accessed where ever there is internet. Of course I need to remember that address. On a side note, I have to be over the limit of space for that page, but I think they kind of forget about that. At least until they update the server, then it will be time for me to delete things.

Around the corner, future lurks

Trying to play with the blog and the Frappr map. Might not work, but want to imbed things. I am not having good luck, I guess you need to be a witch. I think I might give up on this
Definitely giving up on it and just sitting here aching. Rode my bike back to Moose Pond and fell on a rock or tree stump. My left thigh is swollen and hurting like crazy. So much so that I hardly noticed my shoulder is sore as well. It’s one of those injuries where I worry as much about how I will feel tomorrow as I concern about the pain I am in now…
There seems to be something about me falling off my bike in August, AND on my left side. Fortunately the shoulder injury is not related to to my separated shoulder from two years ago.
I am listening to the end of The World is Flat, a bit more entertaining than reading. Of course that has a little bit of a subjective nature. The subjective being I am listening now at 6:52 p.m. and not trying to read at 2 a.m. It’s not a bad book, the trouble I have with it is the ” if’s “. He talks about India being the big world competition, but as much cheap labor and internet access that they have — they still have lots of problems in that country.
It’s 9:59 p.m. and the Buffalo Bisons just won a game. I miss buff of low. I guess I never realized that the Bison games were on a country western station.
My leg is pretty sore, it is going to be tough to sleep tonight. Live and learn. Using the Gin and Tonic medicinally, not much of an affect.
Been reading some of my library’s books. Some new that I ordered because I wanted to read them — others because I thought they were interesting. A lot of times when I read them for a couple reasons: to see if they are appropriate (not just for the library, but also if they are in the right section) and so I can better recommend them to students. The one I am reading right now (”Loser,” by Jerry Spinnelli) is in the Young Adult section, but it should probably be in the Junior. I think though — it is better to put a book where it is easy and not a section where it is a hard book.
On archive.org I found this weird band “Darkness On The Edge Of Town” they are a Bruce Springstien cover group. Kind of ‘edgy’ (no pun intended) in the way that I like. I need to kick bad and rest my leg..
Detroit is off tonight. I will miss them. I have a good feel they are back to winning. Now that I have figured out how to do the animation, I am hooked on it.
