I dropped the coin and subscribed to MLB Gameday Audio so i could listen to the Tigers head toward the end of the season. I can listen to other teams as well. Now I know what I am missing, like the horrible play of Dmitri Young on first base. Ironically they sent (Player number: 7259) back to the Mudhens.
It’s the seventh inning and the Tigers are down 7-1.
Experimenting with food. I bought some rice and a green pepper from the health food store here. I wanted to put some meat/protein in it. Was going to put canned chicken, but thought — what the heck what about some tuna. Then I thought, I have all this extra seafood cocktail sauce. It doesn’t taste too bad.
I guess it is a little better to be typing this and listening, than to be flipping back and forth to a browser to see what is going on. hmm, the new player (Brent Clevlen, #7827) just threw out a runner at second. So some promising action tonight!!! Especially considering Clevlen didn’t play at Toledo, but jumped up fromAA Erie, (PA) Seawolves!!
Interesting thing, when I went to the Seawolves web page I see they are doing Pink Hat for Cancer Day. The second Mudhen game I went to had bid on the pink jersey night. The players all wore pink jerseys and you could bid on them as the game progressed. I wonder if the Single A league if they had Pink Shoelace night.
Sweet bingo dingo, two homers in a row, Tigers nipping back 7-3.
I guess it is a little better to be typing this and listening, than to be flipping back and forth to a browser to see what is going on. Well it wasn’t enough
About the only thing I accomplished was a letter to Amtrak asking for a refund/voucher for the trouble I went though. I also did a bike ride and do a little shopping. I had to, I have nothing in the house.
I am off to school tomorrow. Maybe order some books…

It took me about 24 hours to get home. I got to the train station on Saturday at 11 p.m.; the train arrived at 5 a.m. (both the station and train were freezing). Left the 90 degrees and humidity for the trip to Buff of Low. The Train continued to slow down and I got to my truck at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Stopped for a quick visit in Rochester and then on home. I didn’t get here until about 9 p.m. (took a little nap in my truck.)
At some point the Detroit Tigers where having a great game, headed towards a sweep of the Minnesota Twins, but the Twins came back.
Man, road trips take a lot out of you. In the last 24 hours i did not read or work on my novel, though I copied what I worked on during the last two weeks onto my home computer. It’s nice to be back to the iMac! with my Nisus Writer Express and OmniOutliner; and it is cool to have archive.org. I’m listening to Southern Culture on the Skids. Though I am kind of too tired to do much, it is comfortable.
Even with a nap I am sleepy. Slept various times in the train station, the train and said mention truck. I didn’t get a nap in on Sunday, so not only lacking in quantity, also in quality. Well I will try to make up for that in a little bit!
Back to the road soon

Going to the second Mudhen game of this week. I couldn’t believe they sell out. I knew the Hens were popular, but not sell out popular. It is a Friday, so I guess it should be expected, but they aren’t even in First Place. They aren’t the Tigers for crying out loud. The Tigers Play later against the Twins. I thought when Detroit played Chicago it was the big test, but now that the Twins have been coming on and are tied for second place (with the WhiteSox) it will be good to win a couple games against Minnesota just to keep the momentum going and prove we can beat anyone.
The trip is a sucess if only because I now have a new English ‘D’ Hat (Detroit) — wooo hooo
The library has this funky thing where you can reserve a computer, but if you don’t use it, then it sits there for 15 minutes locked up. So there is often a couple computers that could be used but are not.
Not sure what the plan is, but I have three tickets reserved, dinner has to be scheduled into it and my friends have to get off work, they don’t know the good life do they!!!
Did not work on the novel today, need to think about it some, add to my outline and so on. I do think I am ready to write more — as in I have most of the first chapter going. I might want to start again, because that will set the tone for the characters and the novel itself.
Of course when I get home I will likely want to do a bunch of technical stuff, like type of the rail road stuff. I did start my Amtrak letter. Always better to do that sooner than later, since I am not as frustrated now as I was on Sunday.
My library office

July 27, 2006, 12:52 p.m.For the first time I am in the little room at the library. There are three computers, two of which have both word processing and internet. Not quite home, but not bad. I really like writing with a home field advantage. The book notes are going well and I am even working on the first chapter.</p> I wish I were around a free printer. I have the outline maybe 80 percent done. I would like to be able to lay it out and pencil it around.
One thing for sure: it is easy to take notes and jot down ideas, but it is really hard to write when you are not in your own surroundings. Like right now I need to stand up and turn around and walk in circles, drink some coffee, cut snippets out of my hair, look in the refrigerator, snack too much and come back to the computer. It’s not something I am comfortable doing here.
In fact, I feel that if I walked away from the computer, someone might sit down here and take over. I might even like to consider the bathroom from time to time. I don’t like the sticky keyboard… blah de blah. I guess there are ways to lock the computer, but when you are limited by time, it doesn’t seem right to walk away.I am confused how to change some of the auto corrects on the library computer, which even if I could figure out, would likely not be there when I came back.I really miss music, I wonder if I should consider bringing the mp3 player to entertain myself? Worse of all I am trying to stop eating, so maybe it is good I am not sneaking off to the refrigerator. aaaaaaaah!I also would like to have someone to bounce ideas off, not a discussion, but more me talking. My host is kind of busy — that job thing and all — maybe not, maybe I am just antsy.Ironically the biggest driving force is wondering how much I want to continue to be a librarian in a school. I keep thinking about how I really don’t want to go back and been the warden in a room where all it seems that the kids want to do is talk and find snowmobiles on the internet.
Good news for the Tigers, as they continue to win and Chicago loses, now we have to watch out for Minnesota, though both teams are 8.5 games back. I would like one to start doing better, perhaps the Twins, so the yankers are out of the wildcard chase.
The Mudhens have been on a slide, it was fun watching a game (even if they lost 14-7), but I don’t sense anyone wants to go see another game.
